Reviews for Paraíso da Montanha
Review highlights
Based on 552 reviewsParaíso da Montanha is widely appreciated for its authentic mountain dining experience, combining traditional Portuguese cuisine with stunning views of the Monchique Mountains and nearby ocean. Reviewers frequently highlight the quality and variety of dishes, particularly the local specialties like chicken stew, kid (baby goat), and grilled meats, all considered flavorful and reasonably priced. The restaurant's family-run atmosphere is noted for warm, attentive service, even during busy times. While parking can be challenging, the overall experience, including the scenic setting and efficient service, makes it a memorable stop for both locals and tourists exploring the region.
This is a proper local. Try the chicken stew cooked with cherries soaked in the local eau de vie made from the fruits of the strawberry tree, it’s a winner, especially after all mountain walk. We arrived after an enormous coach party but no matter, we were served like kings. Everyone around us was enjoying their food - delicious grills, tender kid, fish - and all very reasonably priced. In the summer you can sit outside with beautiful views. For dessert, have the crème caramel (not the one on the ice cream menu) their home made one. Small but perfectly formed, it is served warm and not too sweet with an erotic wobble, very good.
Great place that can easily be missed if you drop up towards the Foia. Parking can be a little bit tricky if it is busy but it is worth it.The service was good and quick. And the food was great. The chicken Piri Piri was good and so to was the Kid Stew (yes baby goat).Definitely coming back here.
Wonderful view, great food and kind service
Unbelievable views of the Monchique Mountains. Staff were lovely. 2x the touristic menu plus 1 coffee was 38. The frango was very good.
Amazing mountain restaurant. Great price-quality food. Both the chicken and the steak were very tasty, even the salad was delicious! It seemed like a family owned restaurant, everyone was very nice and attentive. Good views, you could even see the ocean.
My wife and I stopped here for a lunch- dinner while exploring the mountain. I had read the good reviews. Being tourists, we opted for the “tourist” choice on the menu. It was fantastic- and filling. Salad to dessert prepared with love. Hope to come back soon.
The food is super good and the view is amazing. I can highly recommend the chicken soup, the tuna steak, and the chicken stew with cherry.Unfortunately they do not have nice desserts, they are all frozen and they just heat them up.
What a wonderful place. Unfortunately we couldn't see the view as it was raining on the day we went, but were warmly welcomed at 11.55am by all the many friendly, helpful staff. I had the house speciality pork cheeks which were divine and husband had a huge steak with delicious homemade chips. Delicious carob, fig and almond tart and flan for dessert. Excellent value for money.
